Project Description:
The Empowerment Alliance of SW FLA CDC has implemented and/or funded programs related to housing, economic development, education and training and community image. The Empowerment Alliance of Southwest Florida (EASF) Community Development Corporation (CDC) has accomplished the following in 2004: Provided services to 3,166 individuals; Leveraged $697,120 in funding to provide programs and services; Employed 37 youth in summer employment to provide job skills; Provided summer camps for 182 children; Rehabilitated 10 homes; Counseled 1127 clients for homeownership; Provided infrastructure to build 26 single family homes; Due to our efforts to expand vocational training programs, 282 individuals have received vocational training, 37 of which have received scholarships from our organization to complete their training. 185 students were enrolled in after school programs and 180 students received one on one tutoring. Through partnerships with our local Economic Development Councils: 72 jobs have been retained with an average wage rate between $16,000 and $35,000 and 116 new business contacts have been made representing 1395 potential new jobs. Worked in collaboration with our partners on 9 different programs & projects; Between 1999 and 2004 the Empowerment Alliance has leveraged a total of $18 million in grants and loans into the Enterprise Community.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
*The tutoring program will raise the skill levels of students, measured through testing before and after the tutoring. *Residents are trained and educated to be employed in living wage jobs through vocational scholarship program, measured by the number of students entering and completing the programs. *Safe and affordable housing is provided to residents through the construction of 26 single family homes for low income families. *Residents are prepared and educated for homeownership through the consumer and credit counseling services measured by the number of residents who receive counseling and mortgages. *Entrepreneurs are educated and prepared to start and operate a business as measured by the number of business owners who attend business counseling sessions with the Small Business Development Center and the formation of business plan for the Trucker's Association. *Residents are taking responsibility for and showing pride in their community as measured by landscaping and beautification projects, recreational improvements and a redevelopment plan for Harlem Academy Avenue. *Residents are reducing criminal acitivity and drug use and revitalizing their community through the Weed and Seed Strategy and the Front Porch Program in south Immokalee to redevelop that area.
