The City of Plantation is situated 8 miles from the Atlantic Ocean near Ft. Lauderdale, 10 miles to the west is the Everglades. During the summer months, severe thunderstorms form over the area daily. Hurricane season exacerbates the severe weather threat. These 2 factors compound the possibility for a power outage. The need for an emergency generator is identified and substantiated in the Florida Statutes, local, county, and in state emergency operations plans.

Project Description:
6 computers, 1 fax/printer/scanner unit, 2 laser printer, 2 network hubs, 6 network cables, 1 satellite phone for City of Plantation EOC.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Funding for this project will equip the City of Plantation EOC with radio communications, data processing, and other systems necessary to provide for continuity of operations during and after a natural or manmade disaster. The equipment will tie into the City's existing data network and any applicable outside source of information, giving individual emergency management personnel the means by which to properly operate the Emergency Operations Center.
