Statewide Interest: |
This facility will house the Florida Department of Health promary clinical and operational facilities. These services have been severly hampered by the effects of the 2004 Hurricane Season, destroying virtually all of the previous structures used by the Department of Health. Services are being provided in portable/temporary structures, woefully inadequate. Many critical services are suspended until the additional space can be provided. These services and the expansion of an actual facility in the Port Charlotte are are vitally important to this community and therefore to the public health of the state. |

Project Description: |
It is proposed to construct a 75,000 square foot building to house the Department of Health clinics and offices, veteran's services, Charlotte County Human Services offices and services. This facility will also serve as an emergency shelter during storms and natural disaster episodes in the future. This will allow for all local health and human services to be housed in one central facility and to be able to continue operating during emergencies, such as hurricanes. |
