Project Description:
with the implementation of this project, port Orange plans to make major drainage and pond improvements in the Cambridge basin area of the community to alleviate flooding problems. A majority of the 5,000 homes in the basin were construction in the late 1970s before stormwater requirements, now commonplace, were established. During the 2004 hurricanes, some 200 homes were flooded in the basin. currently, the engineering plans for the North, South and Central improvements of the basin are complete. port Orange has already received the appropriate permits for the Northern Section and the South and Central permits are pending from the St. Johns River Water Management District.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
upon completion, Port Orange can efficently protect the lives and property by providing needed drainage and stormwater facilities for an area of Port orange that lacks any such improvements and suffered heavily from the hurricanes of 2004.
