Project Description:
Funds will be used to provide artist residencies for youth involved in the juvenile justice system. The funds will provide for 40 individual artists to provide 20 hours of residency to approximately 15,000 young people in custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice as well as for professional development for the artists to work with youth at risk and for the staff of the participating detention centers or residential facilities to learn about disability awareness.

Students receiving art instruction and hands on learning activities through the artist in residence program will show improvement in academic performance, behavior and critical thinking skills.
