Employment of directors of career education in school districts.

1231.3505  Employment of directors of career education in school districts.--In order to receive state funding, each school board that employs at least 15 full-time equivalent vocational teachers must employ a director of 2career education who meets the certification requirements established by the State Board of Education. Such directors shall be directly accountable to the superintendent of schools, or the superintendent's designee, for the planning and implementation of vocational programs. Two or more district school boards may employ a single director.

Section 231.3505, as amended by s. 5, ch. 92-67, and s. 1245, ch. 95-147, reads:

231.3505  Employment of directors of career education in school districts and community colleges.--Each school district that generates 2career education funds in programs employing at least 15 full-time equivalent teachers, in order to earn these funds, shall employ an individual who is certified by the Department of Education as director of 2career education to administer a districtwide program in 2career education. The position shall be on the staff of the superintendent of schools or the superintendent's designee and shall be at a level requiring involvement in the planning and implementation of vocational programs. Pursuant to rules adopted by the state board, two or more school districts may jointly hire a single director. Until such time as a school district employs at least 15 full-time equivalent teachers, the certified vocational director may be assigned additional responsibilities.
