GENERAL BILL by Simmons ; (CO-INTRODUCERS) Sansom

Free Speech or Defamation Actions; clarifies criteria for liability for publishing matter concerning individual which places that individual before public in false light; provides for civil action to recover damages; requires that person bringing action plead & prove by clear & convincing evidence elements of claim; provides that certain privileged publications are not subject to liability under act; limits period in which to commence action, etc. Creates 770.09.
