SB 304: Governmental Ethics

GENERAL BILL by Fasano

Governmental Ethics; Requiring that all disclosures otherwise required by law be made in writing on forms prescribed by the Commission on Ethics; providing penalties if a public official makes a prohibited appointment, employment, promotion, or advancement decision; providing that if a covered public official holds an economic interest in a qualified blind trust, he or she does not have a conflict of interest that would otherwise be prohibited by law; requiring a state public officer holding an elected or appointed office to publicly state the nature of all of the officer’s interests, and all of the interests of his or her principals, relatives, or business associates which are known to him or her, in the matter from which the officer is abstaining from voting; prohibiting a reporting individual or procurement employee from knowingly accepting an honorarium from a vendor doing business with the reporting individual’s or procurement employee’s agency; raising the civil penalties that may be imposed for violations of ch. 112, F.S., from $10,000 to $100,000, etc.
